Apprentice Solicitor Bristol (Yr 13) - Application Closes 1/3/23

Want To Qualify As A Solicitor But University Just Isn't For You?

We're excited to launch our first solicitor apprenticeship by recruiting two Solicitor Apprentices to join our Bristol office in September 2023.

Managing our early careers talent is at the heart of our recruitment strategy, home growing the future Partners who will eventually go on to lead the business. We've made great progress in the last few years with our Paralegal to Trainee track and we're proud of our reputation for mostly recruiting trainees from our internal paralegal pool; it's a model that works well for the firm and the trainees.

We're also proud of our proven lawyer career paths: many of our Partners trained with the firm and some even joined as Paralegals. We've always maintained a size and structure that enables us to spot and nurture our most talented lawyers, supporting their development and driving their career path.

How Does It Work?

The VWV Solicitor Apprenticeship is a 6 year Level 7 programme. You'll work in one legal team across 4 days from our Bristol office with one day per week being your allocated study day. You'll have a supervisor who will help you to develop and make sure you're working towards your learning platform. You'll also have a mentor, most likely a paralegal who can support and guide you, and you'll get pastoral support from a member of the early careers recruitment team.

Although you'll start in one team, throughout your apprenticeship you'll gain experience in a variety of different legal areas which could include: Real Estate, Private Client, Commercial, Personal Injury and Charities, among many others.

After 4 years you'll have achieved an LLB (Hons) in Legal Practice at which time you'll join our graduate trainee solicitors rotating into a different team every six months, enabling you to become a well-rounded commercial lawyer.

During those final two years you'll sit your SQE1 and SQE2 exams. At the end of the six years (and subject to character and suitability) you'll be a fully qualified solicitor registered with the SRA!

What's The Eligibility Criteria?

There's no longer age restrictions to start an apprenticeships though offers (subject to mitigating circumstances) will be conditional upon securing three A-Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above and five GCSEs at grade 4-9 (or equivalent points) two of which must be Maths and English.

How Much Does It Cost?

Nothing! Not only are all your tuition fees paid, but you'll also receive a competitive salary and attractive employee benefits such as paid holiday, local discounts, transport discounts, pension contributions, private medical insurance and life assurance.
