The Social Mobility Foundation Aspiring Professionals Programme (Yr 12) DEADLINE 16/12/22





The Social Mobility Foundation are offering a free of charge Aspiring Professionals Programme. The programme supports high-achieving year 12 students from low-income backgrounds access top universities and professions, and we hope that students in Wiltshire will apply for next year’s programme!


APP Employer Insights Programmes:

Students can apply for one of our sector or employer insight programmes. The internship element of these insight programmes will take place in summer 2023.

The sector or employer insights available are:

  • J.P. Morgan Finance

  • J.P. Morgan Digital

  • KPMG Accountancy

  • BP Engineering

  • PA Consulting Springboard

  • Law Insight (employer partners are Freshfields, Linklaters, Herbert Smith Freehills, White & Case and Akin Gump)

  • Medicine Insight


APP Reach:

For students anywhere outside London who do not meet our academic criteria but would benefit from our support, then please do encourage them to apply for our APP Reach programme. The academic criteria for this is [5 GCSEs at 9-5 GCSEs at 9-5 (A*-C) / 5 A-C at National 5] and be predicted at least [BBC at A Level/BBCC in Highers/IB equivalent].

Students on our APP Reach strand get a mentor from their chosen career sector, access to all our online career and university resources and invites to university visits where this can be accommodated based on location. We offer support on APP Reach across all 11 of our career sectors which can be found here.


Eligibility criteria:

Students at schools within Wiltshire County Council can find out exactly which criteria applies to them on our regional school lists: South West England.


The criteria for students is:

· Currently in Year 12 (England, Wales)/ in Year 13 (NI)/ in S5 (Scotland)

· Have obtained 4 GCSEs at grade A/7 or 4 National 5s at grade A/B

· Be predicted ABB at A Level/ ABBB in Scottish Highers

· OR meet the APP Reach criteria


Students must be personally eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in secondary school OR first generation of their family to attend university.


We have a contextual offer for care-experienced students We have an ‘academic requirements only’ offer for students who are care-experienced; they should have 5 A*/C (9-4) grades at GCSE, and be predicted BBC at A Level.
